A 22-year-old Milledgeville man died early Thursday after he was hit by a sedan while he was walking on Ga. 29, also known as the U.S. 441 bypass near West Campus Drive.

Victor Chatfield, of Fox Hill Road, was hit by the 4-door sedan shortly after 5:30 a.m., said Ken Garland, Baldwin County deputy coroner.

The driver of the 2002 Hyundai Sonata, a 45-year-old Eatonton man, was not charged, according to an initial report from the Georgia State Patrol.

Troopers are investigating the accident.
