Russell Henley didn’t allow the bad taste from the Masters to linger long.

The Macon native bounced back from a missed cut with a top 10 finish at the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, S.C.

A week after the disappointing finish at Masters, Henley moved into contention at the Heritage with a strong run over the weekend to finish tied for sixth at 5 under par. It’s Henley’s first top 10 since his season-opening win at the Sony Open in Hawaii. The victory pushed Henley back into 10th in the season-long FedEx Cup standings.

Graeme McDowell beat Webb Simpson in a playoff to win the tournament.

Henley opened the tournament with a 2-over-par 73, but he was 7 under in the final three rounds. He shot 67 and 69 on the weekend.

Henley moved as high as fifth on the leaderboard Saturday before making a pair of bogeys in his final seven holes. He finished two shots out of third place.

The Stratford Academy alum birdied three of the first five holes to sprint up the leaderboard. After his birdie on No. 5, he scrambled to make five straight pars after missing all five greens in regulation, according to PGA Tour’s Shot Tracker. He made a 60-foot birdie putt on No. 11 to move to 7 under for the tournament.

He gave two shots back after that run, missing a short par putt on No. 12 and leaving a 10-foot par putt a few inches short on No. 18.

The final-round 69 was tied for the lowest round Sunday, equaling the rounds of McDowell and Luke Donald.

The finish gives Henley his fourth top 25 this season, following the win in Hawaii, a T13 at the Honda Classic and a T17 placing at the WGC-Accenture Match Play.
