A gun recovered in the Feb. 25 arrest of Anquan Joel “A.J.” Howard has been linked to an unsolved shooting Jan. 30.

Howard and Eric Lamar “Man Man” Jackson, both documented members of the Macon Mafia street gang, were initially arrested about two months ago at a motel off Riverside Drive.

They were identified as suspects in a Feb. 10 shooting on Charlotte Street, which runs between Houston Avenue and Broadway.

The men were accused of firing numerous gunshots at victims, including three children, and were wanted on six counts of aggravated assault.

Howard was also charged with terroristic threats and a parole violation in that case.

In a Wednesday news release, Macon police announced Howard is charged with two more counts of aggravated assault in the shooting of two women on Capitol Avenue, which runs off Charlotte Street.

About 1:15 a.m. Jan. 30, Celestine Rutledge and LaSha Moore were standing with three men behind an apartment building when two cars drove by and returned before several shots were fired.

Rutledge, who was 51 at the time, was shot in the thigh.

A bullet grazed Moore’s back. She was 19 years old when she was wounded.

Howard remains in custody at a local jail, the news release stated.
