A man helping with a move said he blacked out at the wheel of a small rental truck and crashed into the KFC on Shurling Drive about 2 p.m. Thursday.

Tasha Johnson said she saw a tire fly past her as she drove down Maynard Street in front of the man, Satori Lyons, who was driving the moving truck.

She felt the impact of the truck hit the back of her Ford Explorer and shatter the rear window of the SUV.

The truck kept going across Shurling Drive, knocked down a light pole and hit the drive-through side of the chicken restaurant, crumbling a section of the corner of the building.

Johnson’s SUV wound up in front of the Sakura Express Japanese next door to the KFC.

Macon police officers at the scene said no one was seriously hurt.

Citations were written for Lyons, who was charged with following too closely and being an unlicensed driver, according to a police news release.
