A woman escaped a suspected kidnapper late Saturday in the Village Green neighborhood.

Macon police were called to 2700 block of Village Green Lane shortly before midnight Saturday after a woman was able break free from a man in a silver car, according to a Macon police news release.

The woman had earlier spotted a suspicious dark or black four-door that was cruising by her while she was walking from Wilshire Woods Apartments off Rocky Creek Road.

She went inside, packed a backpack with clothes and toiletries and waited until she thought the car was gone to walk back to the apartment, according to the police report.

While walking back, she saw a silver car parked along the road but kept going, thinking the vehicle belonged at one of the houses.

As she passed the car, a thin black man with a beard jumped out and tried to grab her, but she wrangled out of her jacket and backpack and got away, the release stated.

The vehicle sped off.
