Forsyth City Councilman James Calloway resigned Tuesday night during the citys regularly scheduled council meeting.
Calloway, who has served on the council for more than 20 years, is one of two city councilmen under federal indictment accused of soliciting a bribe. Fellow Councilman Desi Hansford, who was arrested by FBI agents last week during a sting operation, has not tendered his resignation to the city.
Forsyth officials said Tuesday night that a special election will have to be called to fill Calloways seat and likely will be held in June.
