The Blockbuster video store at 2907 Watson Blvd. in Warner Robins -- the last one in the midstate -- is set to close.
The store ... is in liquidation, Barbara Ellis, director of marketing for Blockbuster, said in an e-mail. It is expected to be closed by April 9.
The companys stores in Georgia have been shutting down since 2011 when Dish Network Corp. bought the struggling video chain for $320 million after it filed for bankruptcy. Dish announced then it would close about 10 percent of the Blockbuster stores, but in early 2012, the company announced it would close more stores than planned.
In January 2012, the company announced the stores on Zebulon Road and Hartley Bridge Road in Macon and one on Russell Parkway in Warner Robins were closing. In December, Macons remaining store on Piece Avenue was set for closure.
We continue to see value in the Blockbuster brand and we will continue to analyze store level profitability and -- as we have in the past -- close unprofitable stores. Ellis said.
