Houston pre-k registration over top in last day

cwright@macon.comWARNER ROBINS -- Enough children have been registered for pre-kindergarten at Houston County Schools for the lottery to go on as planned.

According to Executive Director of Elementary Schools Operations, 1068 students had registered for the lottery by the end of Friday -- the last day.

Though it’s less than the projected 1,300 students, it’s more than the available 990 slots for the fall semester. Students who don’t receive a slot in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list.

This was the first registration process held in the new central registration office, but Flesher said it didn’t cause confusion.
