Houston tweaks pre-k registration process

Due to a low number of students registering for pre-kindergarten, Houston County is tweaking its registration process.

Now, parents can register children for pre-kindergarten at any time through Friday, not just during their assigned week based on the school their children will attend, Linda Horne, assistant superintendent for school operations, said in a news release.

Since registration began Feb. 19, about 500 children have been registered -- officials projected a total of about 1,300, she said.

Pre-kindergarten students must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013. Only parents and legal guardians can register children for pre-kindergarten. The central registration office is located at the Bert Rumble Complex at 303 South Davis Drive in Warner Robins. For more information and for a list of required paperwork, visit
