Macon restaurant donates one-day’s proceeds to MDA

Published: March 12, 2013

The Barberitos restaurant in Macon donated all its sales from March 5 -- its one-year anniversary -- to a good cause.

The restaurant at 4921 Riverside Drive collected $1,910.56, but the store rounded the figure up to $2,000 and gave it to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, according to a news release.

The eatery’s owners, Philip and Martin Kohnen, “have made it a priority to have a continuously ongoing relationship with the MDA,” the release said.

The donation is part of Barberitos’ Bigger than a Burrito campaign which highlights stores’ community involvement and philanthropic events, the release stated.

Athens-based Barberitos is a quick-serve restaurant offering Tex-Mex cuisine including a variety of burritos, tacos, salads, quesadillas and nachos made to order.

The company has 31 stores in Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.
