Officials want Justice Department to review Davis shooting death

Bibb County Commissioner Joe Allen and Macon City Councilman Henry Gibson have scheduled a news conference for 3:30 p.m. to ask the Department of Justice to review the slaying of Sammie “Junebug” Davis.

The news conference, in front of Macon City Hall, follows an announcement by Bibb County District Attorney David Cooke that officer Clayton Sutton will not be prosecuted for the December shooting death of Davis in front of a Kroger store on Pio Nono Avenue.

Cooke said that Clayton feared for his life when Davis attacked him outside the store. The officer shot Davis three times.
