Emergency personnel work the scene of a Monday morning accident on Pio Nono Avenue.

Utility crews are working to repair lines downed in a Pio Nono Avenue accident Monday morning.

At about 9 a.m., Trapanger Stephens, 55, of Macon, was headed south in a GMC Yukon on Pio Nono, past Napier Avenue, when he veered across northbound lanes and hit a utility pole near Date Avenue, said Georgia State Trooper Sgt. Steve Harrison.

Stephens was dazed and could not initially explain what led to the accident that happened after he took his children to school, Harrison said.

Stephens was taken to the hospital as a precaution, Harrison said.

Work crews were expected to have one northbound lane closed four to five hours while they make repairs.

At least one home lost electricity in the accident, he said.
