Gray Highway reopens after east Macon apartments fire

A portion of Gray Highway in Macon that was temporarily closed while Macon-Bibb firefighters battled a fire late Friday night at the East Ridge Apartments on Crissy Drive, has been reopened according to Macon police dispatch.

At 1 a.m., firefighters were still on the scene of the blaze, located about a mile east of the Wal-Mart on Gray Highway. Although some residents of the apartments were forced to flee with only the clothes on their backs, they were able to return early Saturday. There are currently no reports of injuries, loss and/or damage available.
