Macon man shot, two apartments damaged by gunfire

Published: March 8, 2013

A 23-year-old Macon man was shot in the thigh and two apartments were damaged by gunfire late Thursday night, according to Macon police.

Jamel Hickey, who lives in an apartment in the 4000 block of Mercer University Drive, told police he recently had been “feuding” with a neighbor. At about 10:20 p.m., Hickey saw his neighbor outside and spoke to him. The neighbor then pulled a gun from his pocket and started shooting, according to a police report released Friday.

Hickey, who told police he doesn’t want to press charges, fell to the ground after he was shot. The neighbor ran away, according to the report.

People living in two nearby apartments told police bullets came through their walls at about the same time, according to police.
