Restroom trip ends with man’s holdup

Published: March 4, 2013

A man was washing his hands in the restroom of an east Bibb County convenience mart the other day when another guy tapped him on the back and said, “Hey.”

The man at the sink later told authorities that when he turned around, the guy behind him stuck a hunting knife to his chest and said, “Give me your wallet.”

Bibb sheriff’s deputies said the holdup happened about 10 a.m. Friday in the Circle K at 4461 Ocmulgee East Blvd., not far from Interstate 16. The bandit, described in an incident report only as a white man, opened the wallet, stole the victim’s debit card and tossed the wallet on the floor.

The victim, a 24-year-old Warner Robins man who works nearby, said Monday that the robber then punched him in the face three times and took off with the debit card. The debit card was useless, though. The victim said he had recently deactivated it.

“But I’m not using public restrooms anytime soon,” he said. “It was intense.”
