Shots fired from stolen car in Bibb County AmStar Theater parking lot

Published: March 4, 2013

Shots were fired from a stolen car speeding through the parking lot at AmStar Theater on Zebulon Road on Saturday night, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

A Georgia State Patrol trooper spotted a green Honda Accord driving through the parking lot about 8:45 p.m. with no lights on. The trooper pointed a flashlight at the car and saw a rear passenger hanging out of a window and yelling, according to a sheriff’s office report released Monday.

After the car passed by the trooper, the trooper heard two gunshots and saw smoke coming from it as it sped away, according to the report.

A man called sheriff’s office dispatchers moments later saying people in the car fired shots at him on Interstate 475. He also said the car was involved in a hit-and-run crash on Log Cabin Drive, according to the sheriff’s office.

At some point, the car crashed into the gates at Kingston Gardens Apartments on Mumford Road and four men left on foot. The car was reported stolen to Macon police about 5 a.m., according to the report.
