Macon-Bibb Industrial Authority officials to hold road-naming ceremony for former leader

Published: March 3, 2013

The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority is scheduled Monday to host a road-naming ceremony in honor of Kathy Bowden, the authority’s former executive director.

City and county officials said the cul-de-sac road Bowden Parkway, located in front of the First Quality plant on Avondale Mill Road, is a tribute to Bowden’s efforts promoting Bibb County, according to a news release.

“Kathy’s tireless oversight and management of the many projects under the Industrial Authority’s umbrella gave companies, local leaders, and our economic development team the confidence to know that every endeavor would be completed on-time and to perfection,” authority Chairman Cliffard Whitby said in the news release. “But for Kathy’s diligence, we would not have been able to locate many of the industries which came to Macon-Bibb County over the last decade.”
