There was a crash of a tractor-trailer fuel truck on Interstate 475 northbound at Thomaston Road at about 11 p.m. Friday night. Another vehicle was involved, according a Bibb County dispatcher. Multiple units Macon-Bibb Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. Fuel was spilled and a fire was reported in the median of the highway.
Georgia Power was dispatched to the scene and it was believed power lines were down in the vicinity of the overturned truck, creating a hazardous situation. As of 12:15 a.m. Saturday, the fire had been extinguished but the area had not been cleared. Motorists were being advised to avoid the area of I-475 at Thomaston Road.
