Hear the best music of Broadway in one performance at the Grand Opera House

Published: March 1, 2013

A selection from “Chicago” will be among the repertoire of “Hot on Broadway.”

SPECIAL TO THE TELEGRAPH

“Hot on Broadway,” coming Friday and Saturday to the Grand Opera House, brings a variety of music from several different shows to one stage.

With a rotating cast of performers from on and off-Broadway shows, “Hot on Broadway” includes songs from “Wicked,” “Jersey Boys,” “Mamma Mia!,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “The Lion King,” “Chicago” and many more.

“The show features big, show-stopping numbers woven together well and interestingly,” said Cindy Hill, arts marketing coordinator for the Grand. “It’s almost more like a cabaret, with a lot of exposition. The performers tell a little about each show, and then perform.”

Produced by Tony Award nominee Jeffrey Finn, “Hot on Broadway” has been performed around the globe for more than 20 years, according to a news release.

“It features a lot of shows that have not come to Macon yet and showcases an extended family of shows that will let people know New York is still alive and well,” Hill said, calling “Hot on Broadway” a “sampler platter of Broadway’s best.”
