Radio station Peach 96.5 switches to country format

Published: February 25, 2013

Middle Georgia country music fans can now listen to some of the genre’s most popular artists on a local radio station with a revamped programming line-up.

Listeners of WPCH-FM, formerly an adult contemporary station, can now catch songs by country artists such as Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Zac Brown Band and Carrie Underwood on New Country 96.5, according to a Monday announcement by Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Macon.

The radio station will also air “The Bobby Bones Show” weekdays from 6-10 a.m., hosted by radio personalities Bobby Jones, Lunchbox and Amy. The show also will include guest appearances from country stars, as well as providing pop culture information, news and other entertainment.

The new country radio station also will broadcast on newcountry965.com, and listeners also can tune in on Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio website and mobile app.

The station was known as Peach 96.5 for six and a half years, according to the radio station’s Facebook page. The page also refers fans of Peach 96.5 to an iHeartRadio soft rock station.
