A Macon grandmother allegedly knocked unconscious Wednesday by her granddaughter has died.

Shirley Green, 62, of Tuxedo Road was placed on life support at The Medical Center of Central Georgia after her granddaughter, 22-year-old Kierra Thomas, punched her in the head and kicked her in the stomach, according to arrest warrants from Bibb County Magistrate Court.

Green died Friday, said Leon Jones, the Bibb County coroner.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday, said Jami Gaudet, a spokeswoman for the Macon Police Department.

Thomas was additionally charged with felony murder Monday, according to the Bibb County jail website. She was previously charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of cruelty to children.

She allegedly shook her 2-year-old daughter and held her against a sofa in a choke hold during the incident until her uncle intervened. The girl was taken to the hospital for evaluation, according to the warrants.

Thomas, who was arrested Wednesday, is being held at the Bibb County jail on $28,690 bond.
