New flood warning for roads near Dublin, McRae, Eastman

Published: February 25, 2013

Emergency managers in eastern and southern portions of Middle Georgia are warning that numerous dirt roads are becoming impassible due to standing water.

Flood-prone asphalt roads are also flooding, which is expected to affect school bus traffic Tuesday morning.

Up to 5 inches of rain has fallen through the weekend and more storms are expected overnight.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning until 3 p.m. Tuesday for Dodge, Laurens, Montgomery, Telfair, Wheeler, Wilcox, Emanuel, Johnson, Treutlen and Toombs counties.

An additional deluge of up to 2.5 inches through Tuesday morning will result in additional flooding of small creeks and streams, the warning stated.

Never drive through a flooded road as vehicles could be swept away.
