Name: Latria Ingram, owner

Business name: William Alexander Salon, 1305 Linden Avenue Macon, GA 31201; 254-3015

How long have you been in business?: The business opened in March 2008 on Cherry Street in downtown Macon. The salon then moved near The Shoppes at Riverside Crossing, but it moved back to Cherry Street. Then Ingram said she received an offer to move to the College Hill Corridor, which she “couldn’t pass up.”

“We’ve always done a lot of events at Mercer; we’ve always done Bear Fair,” she said. “So, we just thought that this would a great move to be even more convenient for the students.”

What do you like best about your job?: Ingram said she enjoys interacting with people. “People come here for a release and sometimes things are going on in their personal life and you never know how bad it really is,” she said. “And just to be able to get a haircut or a manicure or a massage makes people feel so much better.”

What is your specialty?: Massages, facials, waxing services, manicures and pedicures. “We do everything when it comes to hair,” Ingram said. “We do cuts, colors and end cuts, up-dos for special occasions. ... If somebody wants to rent the place out for bridal showers or lunch-ins, we can do that.”
