Memo to prospective Bibb County teachers: Sharpen your interview skills and have your resumes in hand for the districts Teacher Recruitment Fair Saturday.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Central High School, located at 2155 Napier Ave. Attendees are asked to dress professionally and bring at least 30 copies of their resume, said Shannon Dotsikas, Bibbs coordinator of employment services.
Prospective teachers are also asked to apply for open positions through Bibbs website before the recruitment fair, though they will also have the chance do so at the high school.
We look for those candidates who are poised and ready and passionate, ready to teach all our children in our district, Dotsikas said.
In the past, the Middle Georgia Regional Educational Service Agency hosted a teacher fair, usually in Macon, that included Bibb County and other nearby school districts, including Crawford, Twiggs and Peach counties.
This year, Bibb County is hosting its own teacher fair apart from the other districts, because Bibb officials wanted to conduct on-site interviews with candidates during the event.
Attendees can sign up for Saturday interviews, which will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., on a first-come, first-served basis.
While the district is still waiting to hear back from current employees on whether they plan to return next year, Dotsikas said there is always high demand for math and science teachers, as well as special education and foreign language teachers.
When we get started interviewing for open positions, we will have already done some prescreening for those we would like to hire, she said.
