A 22-year-old Macon man was charged with carjacking Tuesday in connection with a January incident, according to Macon police.
Macon police conducted a traffic stop on Second Street near Poplar Street and spoke with Deontae Markeem Coker, of Southview Drive. Coker allegedly gave police conflicting personal information, according to a police news release.
An officer smelled marijuana in the vehicle and police used a fingerprint scanner to correctly identify Coker, according to the release.
In addition to the carjacking charge, Coker is charged with armed robbery, giving a false name and driving with a suspended license. He is being held at the Bibb County jail on $1,950 bond, according to police.
