Christine P. Cook, an 87-year-old Macon woman found dead in her General Lee Road house in October, was strangled and suffocated, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court on Tuesday.

Aurie Bonner III, 31, is charged with murder, aggravated assault and burglary in connection with Cook’s Oct. 17, 2012, slaying.

Bonner has been held at the Bibb County jail since his Oct. 23 arrest.

Authorities found Cook’s blue Cadillac Deville, which usually was parked in the garage, parked at the nearby intersection of Malvern Hill and Pickett Ridge drives.

Inside her house, police noted that the house looked to be in order, but a jewelry box “appeared to be ransacked,” according to a Macon police report.

Bonner had worked at one point as Cook’s yard man.
