Warner Robins Little Theatre will present Honeymoon at Graveside Manor, opening Friday.
Director Jerry Reppert submitted the idea for the show to the Warner Robins Little Theatre board.
I havent seen it, but I had read it and just thought it would be a great fit, Reppert said.
The title of the show pretty much tells the story of the play. A young couple marries, and the groom -- a horror story author -- is determined to honeymoon at Graveside Manor, an abandoned family property rumored to be haunted since its days as a mortuary.
But the newly married couple isnt alone at Graveside Manor. There is a group of teenagers setting up a haunted house for a Halloween party, a police officer and the escaped lunatic he is chasing, and even the grooms business manager intrudes. Along with interruptions to the honeymoon, there are plenty of spooky shenanigans.
The cast for Honeymoon at Graveside Manor include 10 actors: Bob Smith, Gracie Davis, Pam Davis, Connie Sheridan, Ben Daniels, Michael Castle, Annie Sinatra, Erin Simaschko, Karen Harkins and Katie Manning.
Reppert uses cold readings to select his cast since he believes that process gives him a better idea of how a potential cast member can think on their feet.
You see if they understand what they are saying and what kind of presence they will have on stage when you do a cold reading, said Reppert.
Reppert, who also has acted in several Warner Robins Little Theatre productions, said theater is his passion.
It is just such a great way to meet new people and work with them and see them develop, said Reppert. I just love it. My wife says I would put my bed down there if I could.
He also has a passion for Warner Robins Little Theatres facilities.
There is not a bad seat in the house, he said. There are no posts in the way or anything like that. It is just an intimate theater.
