Macon Film Festival

The 8th Annual Macon Film Festival begins Thursday and runs through Sunday, with events taking place at the Cox Capitol Theatre, 382 Second St.; the Douglass Theatre, 355 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.; and the 567 Center for Renewal, 533 Cherry St.

Special screenings and events include:

THURSDAY

Special screening: “The Buddy Holly Story,” with director Steve Rash, 8 p.m., the Cox Capitol Theatre.

FRIDAY

Workshop: Steve Rash, “Action! Directing,” 1 p.m. at the 567 Center for Renewal.

Special screening: “The Grove,” with actress/director Crystal Chappell, 8 p.m., the Cox Capitol Theatre.

SATURDAY

Workshops: Crystal Chappell, “On Both Sides of the Camera,” 9 a.m.; Cynthia Stillwell, “The Casting Couch,” 1 p.m., 567 Center for Renewal.

Special screening: “Hairspray,” with actress Mink Stole, 8 p.m., the Cox Capitol Theatre.

SUNDAY

Workshops: Mink Stole, “Adventures in Dreamland with John Waters,” 1 p.m.; Roy Wooley, “Don’t Cover It in Blood -- SFX Makeup,” 3:30 p.m., 567 Center for Renewal.

Special screening: “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” guests TBA, 8 p.m., Cox Capitol Theatre.
