Warner Robins resident elected vice chairman of state board

Shaw Blackmon of Warner Robins has been elected vice chairman of the state board that oversees the Technical College System of Georgia, according to a news release.

Blackmon, president and chief executive officer of National Bank Products, has served on the board since 2008, when then-Gov. Sonny Perdue appointed him as an at-large member. He is chairman of the board’s External Affairs Committee and a member of the Governance, Compliance and Audit Committee. He is past chairman of the Appeals Committee, the release states.

The board oversees state technical colleges, including Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins and Central Georgia Technical College in Macon. The two schools are slated to combine this year.

Blackmon was selected for the vice chairmanship at the board’s meeting Thursday in Atlanta.
