The wet forecast has rained on Mercer Village’s planned Fat Tuesday parade.

Mardi Gras in Mercer Village was planned for Tuesday on Montpelier Avenue with live music, a parade, bead-tossing and mask making.

“The outlook on (Tuesday’s) weather is gloomy and getting gloomier so we are officially postponing the outdoor fun of Mardi Gras in Mercer Village,” JR Olive, program coordinator for the College Hill Alliance, said in an e-mail.

Restaurants in the College Hill Corridor are still holding Fat Tuesday events with food and beverage specials.

“The good news is that St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and we have already begun shifting our reservations to Saturday, March 16th,” Olive said in the e-mail. “We will be having a St. Patrick’s Day celebration and parade with all the trimmings.”
