A man was taken to the hospital early Monday after a reported personal armed robbery on Macons east side.
Police were called to the convenience store at 1904 Shurling Drive shortly before 6 a.m.
The victim told investigators he was robbed and hurt at the Oaks Apartments in the 2300 block of Tredway Drive, not far from the store.
He told police he was sitting in his vehicle before heading to work and was approached by a man with a gun and a second man who held a piece of asphalt, according to a Macon police news release.
One man demanded money while the second man struck the victim in the head with the asphalt, causing him to bleed. The injured man handed over a small amount of cash and the assailants left, according to the release.
