Macon man dies a month after suffering burns

Published: February 8, 2013

A Macon man, who was burned over half his body last month, died Thursday night at the Joseph Still Burn Center in Augusta.

Nathaniel Redding, 47, of 935 Wallace Rd., was burned Jan. 5 outside his home, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones early Friday morning.

Redding had a fire burning in a barrel, but Jones did not know what he was burning at the time.

“The fire went out and he poured gas on it and it got on him and it burned 50 percent of his body,” Jones said. “He’s got a lot of burns.”

The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department is investigating the incident.
