SPECIAL TO THE TELEGRAPH

The Macon Concert Association is bringing one of their favorites back to Macon with Monday’s performance by the Graffe String Quartet.

“They are a wonderful string quartet and play wonderful music. They’ve been here maybe twice before,” said Susan Morton, a longtime concert association board member.

The ensemble, from the Czech Republic, will perform Luigi Boccherini’s “String Quartet in G Minor,” Mozart’s “String Quartet No. 19 in C Major” and Alexander Borodin’s “String Quartet No. 2 in D Major.”

The Graffe String Quartet, which includes Stepan Graffe, Lukas Bednarik, Lukas Cybulski and Michal Hreno, was founded in 1997 and first toured the United States in 2007. The current tour marks their fourth with pianist Michiko Otaki.

The Macon Concert Association hosts four concerts each year with a variety of classical music, most often at Wesleyan College’s Burden Parlor. Morton said Burden Parlor is a smaller venue and a “lovely, intimate space for chamber music,” but seating is limited so reservations should be made in advance.
