WARNER ROBINS - The driver of a stolen Jeep who led Bibb County sheriffs deputies on a chase Wednesday before crashing has been identified.
Christian Lavarin Daniel, 19, of Warner Robins, was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, Tabitha Pugh, public information officer for Warner Robins police, stated in an e-mail. His condition was not known.
The Jeep was parked outside of Appraisal Services at 107 Park Avenue when the Jeeps owner heard it crank up, Pugh stated in the e-mail. He looked outside and saw a man, later identified as Daniel, behind the wheel. Daniel took off with the Jeep about 5 p.m.
He was spotted on South Davis Drive but refused to stop and was last seen heading down Ga. 247, Pugh said.
Deputies on routine patrol on Ga. 247 were already on the lookout for the stolen Jeep Rubicon, said Bibb County sheriffs Lt. Sean Defoe. Daniel sped off when spotted. He crashed against a pillar in front of a strip mall at Houston Avenue in Macon.
Charges are pending, Pugh said.
