Rashaad Townes will forever be known as Howards first FCS signee.
The senior linebacker/defensive back signed with perennial FCS contender Appalachian State.
I worked so hard for it, I wouldnt be able to be here without the coaches, the players surrounding me, Townes said.
Townes first visited Boone, N.C. during the summer and felt comfortable on campus.
I really liked how the coaches treated me, Townes said.
Townes finished with 121 tackles, seven tackles for loss, five pass breakups and four forced fumbles and earned All-Region 2-AAAA honors.
Townes will be joined by Calhouns two-time all-state quarterback Taylor Lamb, who signed with the Mountaineers Wednesday.
