Bibb County schools Superintendent Romain Dallemand now has 30 days to decide whether he wants to defend his employment contracts.
Macon attorney Charles E. Cox Jr., who filed a lawsuit for Brad DeFore that challenges Dallemands December and 2011 contracts, filed paperwork showing Dallemand was formally told about the lawsuit, which runs about 70 pages.
Bibb County Superior Court Judge Edgar Ennis asked Cox to serve Dallemand, though Ennis acknowledged in a court hearing Friday that Dallemand surely knew about the lawsuit, which was filed against the school board last month.
Cox wrote that Dallemand was invited to intervene within 30 days, and, after that date, Judge Ennis may rule on the legality of the contracts whether or not you have moved to intervene in this matter.
Ennis said Friday that if Dallemand files to intervene, Ennis will consider letting him into the case.
