WARNER ROBINS -- Lt. Lee VanOsdol, a patrol squad commander, has been named the Warner Robins Police Departments 2012 Officer of the Year.
VanOsdol, who has served Warner Robins police for the past 18 years, also is a member of the agencys Special Weapons and Tactics Team.
He faces each mission with confidence and assurance, the agency noted on its blog. He maintains calm in any situation. He is a proven team leader, tactician and trainer.
VanOsdol was recognized for his direction, discipline, common sense and compassion.
VanOsdol has participated in the Torch Run for Special Olympics and helped with other department fundraisers. He and his wife also have opened their home multiple times to children and young adults in turmoil, the agencys blog noted.
His concern for the employees goes beyond the job, according to the agencys blog. Lt. VanOsdol is an example to all who wear the badge of the Warner Robins Police Department and law enforcement personnel everywhere.
