Stratford senior Austin Simmons said he was too nervous to sleep Tuesday night as he prepared to sign to play baseball for Georgia Perimeter.
But he was happy all his hard work with the Eagles paid off with the scholarship.
"It has been a lot of hard work, but it has been worth it," Simmons said Wednesday morning. "I'm just so excited that the day is finally here."
Simmons said his choice was cemented when he went to Georgia Perimeter and saw the program's facilities. He said he will play outfield in college.
"I just learned so much here at Stratford that made me a better player and will help me in college," he said.
