Bonaire Middle Beta Club takes home 6 awards

Bonaire Middle School’s Beta Club won six awards at a state competition in Macon Dec. 6, according to a news release issued last week. Also, the school sponsor, Cynthia Davis, was elected to serve as the Georgia State Jr. Beta Club sponsor-elect.

Bonaire Middle received the following awards:

• First place, State Spelling Bee, Nicole Tayag;

• First place, poetry, Abby Kirkland;

• Second place, math, Ben Gibbs;

• Third place, science, Dakota Wilkes;

• Third place, BETA Club Service Award, Bonaire Middle; and

• Fourth place, Quiz Bowl Team, captain Zac Ussery, Joseph Winborne, Ashley Derr, Miaka Kemp, Seth Rozelle and Ty Thorn.

First place winners Nicole and Abby will compete at the national level this summer in Mobile, Ala.

WR student makes Dean’s List

Todd William Overlie, of Warner Robins, was named to the 2012 fall semester Dean’s List at Iowa State University. Students named to the Dean’s List must have a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work, according to a news release.
