Woman, children attacked by dogs in Macon

Published: February 5, 2013

A woman and two children were attacked Monday afternoon by two pit bulls, according to a Macon police report.

According to the report, the woman and her two children, ages 2 and 4, were walking west on Seminole Avenue just after 3 p.m. when a large, white pit bull and a smaller, brown-and-white pit bull attacked them.

The victim told officers that her 2-year-old daughter was dragged about 10 feet by the white dog. The woman and her children received several dog bites before a neighbor chased the dogs with a stick.

Bibb County Animal Welfare took the dogs, which didn’t have rabies tags. A neighbor who doesn’t own the dogs but watches them was cited by police on two counts of failing to control/restrain a dog.

The woman and her children were taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment.
