The Georgia Senate unanimously approved a bill Tuesday that will formally dissolve Payne City into the Macon-Bibb consolidated government.

Senate Bill 28 was approved as part of a package of uncontested bills that affect just one city or county. State Sen. David Lucas, D-Macon, planned to fight the bill because Payne City voted against consolidation. But he relented after discussion with officials of the 200-resident enclave. Now the bill moves to the state House.
