As national signing day approaches, we are counting down Georgia's top 10 recruits of the past decade (since the 2003 class), ranked in order of performance as a Bulldog.
No. 10 was Brandon Boykin, from the 2008 signing class.
No. 9 was Bacarri Rambo, a three-star prospect from the 2009 signing class.
No. 8 was Todd Gurley, a four-star prospect from the 2012 signing class.
No. 7 was Justin Houston, a four-star prospect from the 2007 signing class..
No. 6 was Malcolm Mitchell, a four-star prospect from the 2011 signing class..
And now we bring you No. 5:
RB KNOWSHON MORENO
2006 signing class
Hometown: Belford, N.J.
High School: Middletown South
Star rating: Four stars by Rivals, Scout and ESPN.com.
Rankings: No. 57 overall in the 247composite, No. 73 overall in Rivals.
Recruiting accolades: Superprep All-American. PrepStar 200.
Georgia career: Moreno's career wasn't long - he bolted for the NFL after just two season. (Mark Richt often rued having redshirted him as a true freshman.) But when Moreno did play he was spectacular: 2,734 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdown in 26 games. He was one of three finalists for the 2008 Doak Walker Award, and a unanimous first-team All-SEC pick. And he once leapt over a helpless defender. He is the best running back of the Mark Richt era at Georgia - although Todd Gurley (and perhaps even Keith Marshall) could end up having something to say about that.
