AC Pup: What a perfect weekend to celebrate my birthday

February 2, 2013

I’m beside myself with excitement over this weekend. I’m so thrilled I could hardly sleep last night. The stars and planets have certainly aligned to make this the dreamiest weekend ever.

The first perfect part of the weekend is my birthday party today from noon until 2 p.m. at the beautiful Georgia Industrial Children’s Home on Mumford Road in Macon. The folks at the children’s home are so kind to let me use their gorgeous campus for my party. They’re just all-around wonderful people there. In fact, they’re even members of my Homeless Pet Club!

You and your leashed pets are invited to my party today, so I hope you’ll come out to see me and help me celebrate turning 4. Please bring some dog and cat food so my nonprofit group, Central Georgia CARES, will be able to continue helping hungry animals.

Talk about helping animals and being wonderful, let me tell you about how some of my special friends helped CARES feed the needy. First, my sweet friend Miss Sandy Barrett and her AARP group collected a bunch of food for the hungry animals. Thank you, Miss Sandy and AARP!

Then, my terrific friend Miss Becky Angelo set up a bin at the end of her driveway and at her office at work to collect food for hungry dogs and cats. That is one of the most creative ideas I’ve heard of to help. Thank you, Miss Becky!

I’m very grateful for your help because we’re helping a ton of animals and rescue groups. And when we start distributing food, we found that no matter how much we start with, it seems like it’s never enough. There are always more hungry little ones needing help.

The second part of this dreamy weekend is celebrating Groundhog Day today! I hope Punxsutawney Phil says spring is coming soon.

I love watching the movie “Groundhog Day.” My favorite quote from that movie is “What would you do if you were stuck in one place and every day was exactly the same, and nothing that you did mattered?”

That quote inspires me to not be stuck in one place doing the same thing every day and to make my life matter. I try to make my life matter to people and animals every single day. You can, too.

And the third reason this is the perfect weekend is because of the Super Bowl! My Dad and I will be watching the Ravens and 49ers and having a blast. It just doesn’t get any better than this.

Enjoy your fabulous weekend. And come to my party today. Remember to bring dog and cat food so the animals can have their own Super Food Bowl. I’ll be looking for you!
