Henley resumes his PGA Tour season

Macon’s Russell Henley will make the third PGA Tour start of his rookie season this week in the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale, in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Henley earned the first PGA Tour win of his career at the Sony Open and then finished tied for 56th at the Humana Challenge before taking last week off. He finished at 24 under at the Sony Open and is 39 under for his eight rounds so far.

Henley will play with Nick Watney and Bubba Watson in the first two rounds. They will tee off at 2:16 p.m. on Thursday and 10:06 a.m. on Friday.

The former Stratford and Georgia standout is third in the PGA-FedEx Cup points standings behind Brian Gay and Dustin Johnson, and Henley is 54th in the world ranking.

In the PGA Tour’s statistics through the season’s first four tournaments, Henley is first in all-around ranking and strokes gained-putting. He is second in scoring average (68.393) and birdie average and also ranks in the top 10 in greens in regulation (tied for fifth) and total driving (sixth).
