FORT VALLEY -- A Peach County woman died Wednesday at The Medical Center of Central Georgia after jumping out of a moving vehicle earlier that morning, a coroner says.

Julie Davis, 52, was pronounced dead at the hospital’s Emergency Room at 9:15 a.m., said Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks.

Davis earlier jumped from the vehicle on Fullwood Road off Ga. 96 about three miles east of Fort Valley, Rooks said.

Houston County Sheriff Terry Deese said 911 received a suicide call at 7:10 a.m. of a woman having jumped out of a car as it was moving.

The woman, later identified as Davis, had some medical issues anda relative was driving her to the hospital to get her some help, Deese said.

Davis, who was in the back of the car, wanted to be put out along the side of the road in Macon but the relative declined, Deese said.

“She just opened the door and jumped out,” Deese said.

Another person was also in the car at the time of the incident, he said.

Davis had a Fort Valley address but apparently had been moving from relative to relative, Deese said.

The incident remains under investigation.
