The Fort Valley State basketball teams split with Claflin on Monday in Fort Valley.

Claflin edged the Fort Valley State men 60-57. Jeremy Sledge scored 25 points for the Wildcats (6-11, 4-6 SIAC).

The Fort Valley State women topped Claflin 87-78. Shytina Harley had 22 points and 11 rebounds to pace Fort Valley State (10-8, 6-3), while Jaime Gilbert added 11 points.

The Fort Valley State men host Morehouse at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams head to Albany State on Saturday.

Gordon runs past Middle Georgia State

Gordon College handed Middle Georgia State its fifth men’s basketball loss of the year Monday, claiming a 64-48 victory in Cochran.

Shane Heyward led Middle Georgia State (13-5, 4-5 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association) with 15 points.

Middle Georgia State is at Atlanta Metro on Saturday.
