Bruce Tarpley walked into the Eastman’s Gun & Knife Show at the Wilson Convention Center on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, with the AR-15 he hoped to sell on his shoulder. Tarpley said he was there to sell the gun he used for target shooting because the recent popularity of the gun means he can get more for it used than he paid for it new. “I’m just trying to turn over some money,” he said. Of the recent proposed changes to gun regulations, Tarpley said he didn’t think it fair to target lawful gun owners. “I think they ought to have better background checks, more thorough background checks,” he said.
