Macon man calls cops to report robbery, is arrested for pot possession

A Macon man who called police after he was robbed by two armed men Wednesday afternoon was himself arrested and charged with marijuana possession and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to a Macon police report and Bibb County jail records.

Larry Charles Akins, 21, who lives in an apartment at 3901 Northside Drive, called police Wednesday after two armed men approached his vehicle and demanded his money, he told police. According to the police report, Akins gave them $550 and cell phones belonging to him and his wife.

The two men then ran to a khaki-colored Honda Accord with a dark hood and drove off.

When police arrived, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and informed the drug unit.

Akins was taken to the Bibb County jail, where he is being held on a $3,445 bond. Police are still searching for the gunmen. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at (877) 68-CRIME.
