A Macon bail recovery agent who was charged with firing shots at a fugitive on Gray Highway in May 2011 was found guilty last week in State Court of reckless conduct with a weapon.
David Lamar Harper, 41, of Marie Circle, was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 12 months of probation. He also was fined $1,000.
Harper was arrested on a charge of reckless conduct with a firearm when he was attempting to serve a Mississippi fugitive warrant on Dytuan Ervin in the parking lot of the Precision Tune on Gray Highway.
At one point, Ervin got into his vehicle and tried to drive away. Harper ran to the front of the business and fired his gun at the vehicle as Ervin drove onto Hall Street, Macon police said at the time of the incident.
