Macon police charged Akobeyan Denzel Howard on Jan. 16 in connection with the July 2011 slaying of Alfred Smith. Howard, 19, of Culver Street, was detained in a traffic stop conducted by the Jones County Sheriffs Office at 11:15 a.m. Law enforcement agencies were acting on numerous tips provided by many sources, according to a Macon Police Department news release. Howard was charged with one count of felony murder. Howard is the second person charged in Smiths murder. Police initially charged Martin Kintray Kendall, 30, of Kingsbury Drive, who had already been in jail on an unrelated burglary and probation violation charges. Kendall is still in the Bibb County jail. Smith was found shot multiple times outside Wings Café on July 25, 2011, inside his silver Nissan Maxima with the engine running and the front passenger door window shot out.
